Hawthorne Elementary

Dekalb County Schools

Hello Hawthorne Hornets!  I am very excited to welcome everyone back to the 2023–2024 school year.  It has been my pleasure to serve as the principal of Hawthorne Elementary for the last ten years.  As the principal, I am fortunate to have an inside look at the wonderfully diverse and inclusive environment of our school community.  Our staff, parents, and students create an environment of excellence that embraces and celebrates each other’s uniqueness.
Our staff is experienced, highly skilled, and committed to delivering a quality education to our students. Our parents and community are supportive of our neighborhood school and provide a level of support that demonstrates a shared belief that a partnership between home and school maximizes students potential to succeed.  Parent participation is welcomed, and we have many opportunities for parents to volunteer in and out of the classroom. I urge you to join our PTA (Parent Teacher Association) and support the wonderful work they do each year.  The Hawthorne Foundation and the Principal’s Advisory Council are additional ways to support our school and be involved in decision making opportunities.
Finally, our students are the true stars of Hawthorne Elementary.  Our students are kind, inquisitive, and future leaders.  The following words from our student creed embody what we as a community believe about our students, their potential, and their responsibility to take an active role in their learning: “I believe I can achieve and succeed at anything I set out to do.  I know that what I do today will influence what I become tomorrow.  I am smart. I am unique. I have potential.  It’s my decision: I can learn. I will learn.”
I look forward to working with all of our families this year and continuing a tradition of excellence.  If you would like to learn more about our school or have any questions, feel free to contact me at 678-874-2803 or [email protected]
